3 Points in Time: An Artist’s Journey
To be exhibited at the Peggy R. McConnell Arts Center (MAC).
January 4th through March 18th
Opening Reception to be held January 11, 6:30 to 8pm.
The submission deadline is Thursday, November 9th by midnight. Artists who are accepted will be notified by Monday, November 20th.
The title chosen, 3 Points in Time, is intended to give the viewer a small glimpse into how an artist’s work might change over a period of time.
Submissions for the exhibit must be in a “set” and include the following:
3 pieces that represent 3 different times in your artistic journey. Also, you must include a 4-5 sentence statement explaining what changed for you between EACH piece. You will have 2 statements, one explaining the change between piece 1 and 2 and one between piece 2 and 3.
Please note in the submission: Name of each piece, year produced, approx. size, medium. Also note, if there is a title for the entire set.
The set of works submitted could display many different possible changes in the work of an artist, including, but not limited to: A change in medium, or a change in thematic concentration. A change in lifestyle or significant events in the artist’s life. The influence of a workshop, class or interaction with another artist.
More than one “set” may be submitted by an artist. Submissions must be submitted electronically to firstname.lastname@example.org <mailto:email@example.com>. Each piece must be photographed individually and then as the “set”. Please only submit 1 set per email. You will receive an email confirmation when your submission is received.
Only complete sets will be reviewed for selection. Partial sets will not be accepted. The MAC will review the submissions and select based not only on artistic quality, but also on the articulated change. The physical space and the relationships of the sets to each other within the space will also be considered during the selection process.
You may submit prior to the official deadline to have your submission reviewed. MAC staff will let you know if additional information might be required. No new submission material will be accepted after the official deadline.
Once selected, the Worthington Area Art League will collect fees ($20) from participating artists, and organize and present awards for the show.

>>>> RIDES NEEDED
Some of our members no longer drive or don’t drive at night. I am so glad they still wish to be involved with our group. To help them out we would like to establish a list of people who are willing to help these artist attend and offer a ride.
If you are willing to help pick up a member once in awhile or on a regular basis, please let me know and I will connect you with your fellow artist.
Currently Joan needs a ride. She lives only about 3 blocks from the Griswold and usually walks, but with the change of time and cooler weather a ride would be great.
>>>> 🎨Our November speaker is:
Claire Elyce Wiedman is a photographic artist and educator. A Midwesterner at heart: born in Illinois, she earned two Bachelor of Arts degrees and a Masters of Art degree from the University of Saint Francis in Fort Wayne, IN before moving to Ohio. She migrated to Columbus in order to earn an MFA from CCAD, and stayed to share her love of photography at the area colleges. Her work is based in both film and digital photography, often with an installation twist; it centers around perception of time, place, and experience, and is intended to provoke curiosity and reflection.
>>>> 🎄December is our Holiday Potluck:
Below is the sign up list. We do need a lot of help for this event so please join in the fun. It is a great way to get to know other members. We are a great fun group and I know you will have a good time helping, dining and learning about the Veteran’s Art Initiative.
The set up crew needs to arrive at 5:30 for party time at 6:15. Take down begins at 8:45 and will not take too long with many helpers.
If that is not convenient we need center pieces and we certainly have lots of creative types in our group so that should be a fun pre-event group activity.
