Worthington Area Art League – announcements 6/22/18

Hello
Here are a few items that have arrived since the last announcement on 6/8.

The next planned announcement is: July 6.

Hope you are enjoying all this rain! It’s great for grass and gardens but not much else around here.

If ever I miss something you send (it does happen) – – – simply send me a reminder with what’s missing and I’ll do my best to get it fixed.

Still working on fixing the bulk email problem (mergers and acquisitions can mess up the best mouse trap). So for now you’ll keep hearing announcements from this address.

SWAP MEET

The July meeting will be informal with a swap meet. Bring anything you wish to trade, sell or give away – art related. This could include equipment, materials and even paintings.

If you send me your wants or needs I will put them in the next news letter. Also please invite any friends who have items to swap!

I am looking for a small easel and box for painting that will travel easily to Ireland.

Thanks to Amy Flowers for a fascinating presentation about the world of art installation and specifically Abu Daubi. What interesting things you do!

Thanks also to Joyce Fisher for the refreshments!

>>>> WORTHINGTON ARTS FESTIVAL

What a great 3 days we had. We set up on Friday and the Festival had a dinner featuring 5 artists plus the WAAL booth. Our booths were the only ones open that evening and we started off with a sale!

On Saturday and Sunday we were very busy. A total of 15 artists participated/volunteered, we had a total of 22 sales by 8 artists, and 4 sales of Kroger prints. The total dollar sales equaled $2182. Pretty impressive!

Thanks to Diana for all the preliminary work, Sean Wang and Bill Westerman for set up and being available all day and all the volunteers who helped with set up, sales, running errands, take down when we thought the rain was coming, set up again and finally take down. What a terrific team effort. The WAAL members are a wonderful group of folks to work with.

Also a special thanks to the McConnell Arts Center team for putting together a great festival. They were so gracious to ask us to be apart of the weekend, provided us with a free tent and helped with countless things. If you see Jon Cook, Jenny Danker or any of the McConnell staff please thank them for this wonderful opportunity.

>>>> Worthington Art Festival June 15, 16, & 17

Several of our members photographed the WAAL exhibit at the Worthington Art Festival June 15, 16, & 17 at the grounds of the McConnell Art Center. We had really great attendance of the public at our booth, and a lot of credit for our successful exhibit of our art goes to the many WAAL members who participated with their art and help at the booth.
