# Worthington Area Art League – announcement 6/8/19 #
Hello
Here’s the latest set of announcements.
You too can have information forwarded to members that you think they’d like to know about. One thing that apparently happened this past week is notifications went out about acceptance into the Ohio State Fair fine arts exhibit. If you let me know, I’ll add your name to the ever growing list. The art league is always well represented in this exhibit.
Apologies for the double send last time (which did not solve anything). Occasionally formatting issues creep in given text comes from multiple people and all I do is cut and paste. When you send items to be included best bet is to send “plain text” and avoid fancy formatting sometimes “hidden” formatting rules spread to other areas of the email. Regardless, keep the news items coming!
Next announcement on or about June 21, 2019

This next week is a busy one for the League, our meeting is Thursday, then Friday morning a great crew will set up for the Worthington Area Art Festival at 8am. Saturday and Sunday, members will staff the tent, great the public, promote WAAL and sell our note cards as well as their own art.
21 members are participating in the event. The MAC can still use volunteers so go to their site to sign up.
Plan to come to the festival, there will be over 100 tents of artists. WAAL’s tent is a large blue one in the community area, which is near the MAC parking lot under the trees. Make sure you stop and say HI.

I will be working with 3 other chalk artists and the Columbus Museum of Art to bring two watercolors from their collection out and into the community during the festival. Stop by and say hello if you can. Also, I have been invited by the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, Arkansas to participate as a chalk artist in their inaugural event this August. They invited 30 chalk artists from all over the country to participate. They anticipate over 10,000 visitors to the event.

>>>> Opportunity to learn
Hello! The 2019 Summer guide has been published online by the Westerville Recreation department. Hope you will consider taking this fun class with me!
Abstract Fun with Soft Pastels Workshop With Nancy Vance
Join me for a fun, one-day class on Saturday, July 13, from 10am-2pm
Are you curious about using pastel sticks? Do you already use pastels and want to try a different approach? Come to this one-day workshop to learn the freedom of creating with soft pastels.
We will jump right into the fun using a master’s painting image (or other painting image you admire) as a jumping off point. Our goal will not be to copy but to use those paintings as inspiration to create our own abstracted painting.
NOTE: Required Student Materials List available at the front desk or email me. Instructor will provide sanded pastel paper.
Student should bring some of their own “soft pastel sticks” (NOT oil pastels). I’ll be glad to email you the required Student Materials List as a PDF with all the details – just let me know.
Cost: $55 for Westerville resident, or $65 for non-resident
Westerville Community Center, 350 N. Cleveland Ave.
