This is the promised set of announcements for 8/17. You are receiving this from the new membership email. Please make a note of the email membership@worthingtonareaartleague.com It’s new . . . this is the second item you have received from it – and the first “announcement”. Add it to your contacts list and to your “this is not spam” list if you have such a thing.

And with that here are the few items that have arrived since 8/3.

Membership renewals are moving along well. 68 out of a possible 153 have renewed! Thank you! If you have questions contact Chuck Zelms membership@worthingtonareaartleague.com

And if you have something to share with your fellow art league members send a “ready to send” message of text via email to membership@worthingtonareaartleague.com Remember to keep it simple. Plain text is best. Avoid special fonts and colors – – – Keep it so it can be “cut and pasted” into an email like you see here. Attachments are great. Keep them “web ready” – – – avoid sending “print ready” files – – – they are usually too big. Jpeg and pdf files are best. If you have a website that has the information send the URL to that site with a text introduction. I will do my best, but remember, I do not always read everything you send so your typos will get passed on. I edit on occasion if I see something obvious.

Next announcement is planned for Monday 8/27.

And it might be the last one from me until just before the September 13 meeting which is at 7PM at the Griswold 777 High St. Worthington (the usual place and time). This is the time for you to share “what have I done this summer” via one piece of art you have created in recent months.

>>>> Frederick Ripley on exhibit

For the month of August, I am delighted to offer two exhibits in the Columbus area, both in well-lit venues with very easy access.  Details are below, and on the attached flyer.

One is at the Worthington Municipal Building, in historic Worthington on the north side of Columbus.  The address is 6550 High Street, several blocks north of State Route 161 and High Street, on the east side of High (there is a dedicated parking lot).  The building is open to the public from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM weekdays.        I have 25 photos on the second floor, images taken in Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Kentucky, Tennessee, Ohio, and Indiana (representing CSX and Norfolk Southern operating on the former Baltimore and Ohio, Chesapeake and Ohio, Louisville and Nashville, New York Central, Norfolk and Western, and Southern Railway).

The other is at the First Merchants Bank in Grandview, an appealing area just north and west of downtown, at 1460 Grandview Avenue (just south of the intersection of Grandview Ave. and 5th Avenue, on the east side of Grandview Ave., also with a dedicated parking lot).  The hours are Monday-Thursday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM;  Friday 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM; and Saturday 9:00 AM to Noon.   I have hung 23 photos throughout the lobby, taken in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Illinois, Iowa, and Missouri on my two favorite railroads, the ex-Pennsylvania Railroad and the Santa Fe Railway.  On Saturday, August 25, the building will be open for special hours, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, as part of the “Grandview Hop”.  I will be there and look forward to chatting with viewers!    See this link for a description of this fun event:   https://grandviewhop.com

I hope everyone enjoys the last part of summer, and I look forward to seeing some of you on August 25!

All Best, Fred R.
