# Worthington Area Art League – announcement 2/7/20 #

Good morning!

Here are a few items for this installment of announcements. Note there are TWO (2) call for entries included in this. Please respond directly to the show chairs with your RSVP.

Mar: Michele Sitzlin, mixed media artist

Michelle S. Stitzlein maintains a studio in a re-purposed, former grange hall in the community of Baltimore, Ohio, and is a graduate of the Columbus College of Art & Design.

Her large scale sculptures are created utilizing found materials and her solo exhibition titled Industrial Nature has traveled nationally including to the Desert Botanical Garden, Phoenix, AZ; the Saugatuck Center of the Arts, Saugatuck, MI; the Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center, Auburn, NY; the Miller Gallery at Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, PA; and the Springfield Museum of Art, Springfield, OH.

Her work is represented in museum and corporate collections such as COSI, Columbus, OH; Domino’s Pizza, Ann Arbor, MI; Erie Insurance, Erie, PA; and the Dayton Main Library, Dayton, OH.

Stitzlein has been an artist-in-residence at Denali National Park, AK, and the Millay Colony of Arts, Austerlitz, NY. She has collaborated with schools across the country and authored books about creating murals and sculptures with recycled plastic bottle caps. Additionally, Stitzlein was awarded two Individual Excellence Grants from the Ohio Arts Council in 2008 and 2017 and the Charley Harper Award from the Environmental Education Council of Ohio in 2019.

First Community Church has again invited WAAL to exhibit our work in Brownlee Hall at the church on Cambridge Blvd. Our show will be from April 1st to June 15th. Last time due to remodeling in the room our exhibit time was shortened, this time our exhibit time has been extended, how fortunate.

In past years we have had an abundance of beautiful art and the walls were covered with work. This year we are limiting the number of pieces so we can have some breathing room and each piece will be able to better stand out.
