Hello members

I said I’d do the next announcement on or about 6/5. That will still happen. But maybe you should get this stuff today as we are going to have another ZOOM meeting. . . on June 11.

So read the good stuff below and if you have something to share on 6/5 get it in at least the day before. And if I missed something you sent – – – send it again. . . Crazy times out there. Stay safe. Stay healthy! Make art!!!

It has begun to look like summer, at least according to the weather, if not by the cancelled activities. Plein Air groups have been out painting. Some of us are doing yard work. So much has been cancelled this summer, there’s not much new to write about.

I hope you are including some new art experiences in your free time. Let’s hear about them. Post them to our members-only page. See below for more information.

PUSHING THE ENVELOPE

Painting during the pandemic is a challenge. It is a roller coaster of emotions and moods. Don’t fight it, USE IT. Whether stuck in a rut or exploring a new direction, more brush time is now available. This “ show and tell” of paintings will illustrate how this isolation period has pushed and broadened my creative thinking. Palette, mood and composition changes can push your art while going down the corona road.

This Zoom program is about sharing ideas, styles and palettes and pushing the boundaries. Use “what if” thinking, take artistic risks, and make isolation work for YOU.

WAAL has two Facebook sites.

– Worthington Area Art League – This is our public page where we post our events and anything we want the whole world to see.

– Worthington Area Art League MEMBERS – This is a members-only page. Anyone who is a WAAL member can share join the page and post. It serves a similar function to Dublin Art League’s “Lounge” page. It can function as a forum to share work, ask questions, or inform members of events or experiences they might want to participate in. Check out the page and click + JOIN

Work that is currently hanging in any of WAAL’s business venues will remain in place through June. This means that most of our venues will need pieces starting for the July/August time frame. Use the new online venue booking we page to sign up for July/August.

Venue sign-up is now done on line and is a quick process at WorthingtonAreaArtLeague.com. Go to the “Membership” tab and click on Venue Booking. Log in, using the password: artinview2020 Scroll through the venues and click on the Sign Up button.

Create a piece of art with the theme, “Staying at Home”. I would like to have a show of pieces that tell our stories of sheltering in place.
Look for the billboard art sponsored by Art P.O.P Street Gallery. There are six billboards in various places in the Columbus are that are showing the winners of the ArtPOP competition Robie Benve (Dublin Area Art League) won a spot and her painting is on a billboard near the Hollywood casino. I saw this one by Chloe Schlorb along Stelzer Rd by the airport.

Finished framed art no larger than 20″H x 30″W

You can have wrapped canvases. All art needs a wire for hanging. No saw tooth (your art will not be hung).

There will be 4 screens in the hallway for our exhibit. The gallery exhibit will advertise our show along with theirs.

Reception: unknown at this time

Fee: none

Buyer: artist handles transaction

Drop off: unknown at this time – week prior maybe – Location is one central members home – Linda Coe and I will be delivering. You will need to have art wrapped in bubble wrap when delivered. Name, title, price, contact information attached to the bubble wrap and on the back of the art.

At this time they feel the exhibit will go on but can’t guarantee how many people will be in the building to view.
