Richard has been painting with focus since 1992. From an early age he has had a love of expressing himself through his art. Even in the U.S. Air Force, he had an outlet for his creative side, working several years as a graphic artist. After he was discharged, he enrolled at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh where he received his degree in commercial art. During the preceding years Rich has pursued his career in advertising. He continued developing his appreciation of fine art through reading and traveling to local and national exhibits. Richard has developed an impressionist expressive style. His pictures have a luminous quality created from initial glazed layers that he allows to show through beside broken strokes of impasto. Often choosing landscapes, he creates harmony with colors inspired by nature's hues.
