Hello members
Hope your spring is full of sunshine and blooming things! (see one attachment)
A few items have arrived and are ready to share.
By the way, if anyone else is interested in being a) the purveyor of these announcements and b) the membership chair let me know. It just might be time for this bird to pass these tasks along to another (younger) member who wants to get involved in the art league. Neither task is difficult but it’s good to want to do the membership roll for several years in a row. I’ve done it for hmmm maybe 17 years. Not say’n the new person should do it that long. But,.new people always inject change and WAAL doesn’t need that kind of change too often.
Just remember, it’s better to volunteer than be volunteered.
On to the latest greatest news.
Next announcement on or about: May 7

>>>> A Message from the President
The WAAL Board of Directors held a meeting on April 13th where the following topics were discussed: Financial Review Scholarship Program Grant Funding Future Exhibits Responding to COVID-19 Change of Leadership for the 2021-2022 Season Financial Review As noted in previous meetings and announcements, our revenue this year is lower than recent years due to a decrease in membership. Our finances are stable, but we are hoping that memberships will increase as COVID-19 restrictions relax.
Scholarship Program Our Scholarship Program will award three students from Thomas Worthington High School, Worthington Kilbourne High School and Worthington Christian High School. The students will again present their artwork remotely at our May Meeting and this year we will display their work in the WAAL Virtual Gallery on our website.
Grant Funding Beth Veldey and Sarah-Jane Workman have been hard at work organizing and revising the documents needed to achieve 501(c)3 status. WAAL has engaged an attorney who has reviewed our materials. The WAAL By-Laws will need to be updated and a draft will be prepared. The Membership will be updated as the project progresses.
Future Exhibits All-Member Group “Summer Show”. We would like to stage another virtual show for WAAL members in June/July and are seeking a Show Chair. First Community Church. An in-person show is scheduled for August-September. Ruth Ann Mitchell will serve as Show Chair. Responding to COVID-19 WAAL will continue to comply with Governor DeWine’s mandates and recommendations as outlined in Responsible Restart Ohio. The most recent Order was released on April 9th and requires that gatherings not exceed 10 people. In response to this Order, coupled with the Griswold Center remaining closed, WAAL will continue to host our activities online. Our meeting and events have been interesting, interactive, and a lot of fun. If you have not yet taken advantage of all that is being offered, log in to our next meeting or critique to see what you have been missing.
Change of Leadership Even though it is only April, it is not too early to think about who will be leading our group into 2022. Could it be you? Our next election for President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer takes place in July, with the new term commencing in September. WAAL offers many other Chair positions where you can share your expertise, learn something new, and become involved in moving the League forward. Current Board Members will provide plenty of support. To inquiry about a leadership opportunity contact President Katie Crowley at President@WorthingtonAreaArtLeague.com <mailto:President@WorthingtonAreaArtLeague.com> or Vice President Beth Veldey at VicePresident@WorthingtonAreaArtLeague.com <mailto:VicePresident@WorthingtonAreaArtLeague.com>.

>>>> Peachblow Pottery Spring 2021
Spring greetings to all!!!
It’s been too long since I’ve been in touch with everyone – I certainly hope this note finds you well, happy, and enjoying this beautiful Spring!
I have decided to have my annual Spring Open House this year, after cancelling both Spring and Fall open houses last year. I will be officially open the first TWO weekends of May, since it’s been so long, and since the Delaware Arts Festival, and others, have been cancelled. Weather permitting, I’ll have tents up outside to accommodate distancing. Masks are still appreciated.
Saturday, May 1st, 10-5, and Sunday, May 2nd, noon-5.
AND
Saturday, May 8th, 10-5, and Sunday, May 9th, noon -5
Other than open house weekends, my gallery is open most days by chance or appointment.
Give me a call, text, or email to be sure I’m home. 740-548-7224.
Each Spring, I find myself wanting to make mostly vases, for all the new blooms foliage. I’ll have lots of them, plus my regular production pieces.
Looking forward to seeing you and catching up!
